Villages – Savoca
Savoca is a small village (around 1.600 inhabitants) located in the Peloritani mountains, in the province of Messina (Sicily). It is part of the Valle d’Agro, which includes villages in the area of the river Agrò.
It is included in the list of the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy and it really deserves to be so. In fact, Savoca is a beautiful, small villages that still holds a traditional and quiet atmosphere: its baroque and medieval architecture is perfectly preserved, and you can spend hours just walking through the village or simply looking at the sea from the central square and its small boulevard.
In the middle of the village, you can find a small bar called “Bar Vitelli”. Just look at it, enter, order a cooffee and you will realize it: this has been the set for part of Francis Ford Coppola’s “Godfather” movie. Everything in the bar is still the same as it was when Al Pacino asked a local woman to marry him. Have a coffee and relax. Savoca is still as true as it was years and years ago.
